Financial Aid Night a Success!

On Tuesday, October 28, the DHS guidance department hosted an evening session on financial aid information. Presenting at this information session was the Finance Authority of Maine. Over 80 parents and students were in attendance to learn about the financial aid process for post-secondary schools.

A big thanks to JoAnne Weston for organizing this event.

Financial Aid Information Night

Dirigo High School is pleased to announce that we will host a post-secondary financial aid information session, presented by the Finance Authority of Maine, on Tuesday, October 28 at 6:00 PM in the SCC at Dirigo High School.

This is an opportunity for parents and students to learn about post-secondary financial aid opportunities, including the financial aid process, types of financial aid, and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

All parents and students are welcome to attend, but we especially encourage our junior and senior students and their parents to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

We hope to see you on either the 16th or 21st!

Well, we are in our second full week of the school year at this point. Despite our new schedule of classes meeting every day, we appear to be settling in to a routine. I want to take this opportunity to commend the staff and the students at Dirigo High School for how they have handled the change from an alternating block schedule to an every day meeting schedule. As usual, the Dirigo community has handled the change with professionalism and pride. A great staff and a great student body.

Summer Work

Well, with the addition of T.W. Kelly Dirigo Middle School to my duties as a principal in RSU 10, I have spent more time at work this summer than I normally do. I have been “officially” back to work since Monday, August 6 as I prep both TWKDMS and DHS for the start of the ’14-’15 school year.

Fall sports at DHS begin Monday, August 18; teacher workshops on Monday and Tuesday, August 25 and 26; and Wednesday, August 27 the first day of school at DMS for grade 6 and the first day of school at DHS for grade 9. All other students begin Thursday, August 28. Here we go!
