I came to Western Maine on purpose. I grew up in the southern part of the state, and I knew I wanted to live, work, and raise my family in a small, rural setting. I was a special ed/elementary ed major at UMF and went on to earn my Master of Education Degree from UMaine. My husband works as a science teacher at Dirigo Middle right down the road (yes, that Mr. Buck that many of you know), and my children are current Dirigo students. My first teaching job was at Peru Elementary in the 90s, but I resigned after 5 years to become a full time mom– which I was also very fortunate to be able to do. When my daughter started kindergarten, the DHS alt ed position opened, and deciding that opportunity knocks even when you aren’t expecting it, I opened the door. I am so glad I did.
The best thing since printing on reused paper.
I’m obsessive about reducing my negative impact on our environment– to the point that I almost never print on new paper. 99% of the time, if I send something home, the back of the page is someone else’s trash. Please ignore it. I hope to be able to post more to this site and not have to print at all.
